OLD LOOMS AND SPINNING WHEELS

Do you need help with an old loom or spinning wheel?

We are seeing that many people are currently acquiring old looms and spinning wheels, often at a very low price.

However, since the production of, for example, LERVAD looms ceased in 1998, it can be challenging to find spare parts for these models. The same applies to other older looms and spinning wheels that are no longer in production.

The biggest challenges arise with your looms and spinning wheels, which are unique crafts created by skilled artisans. Often, it was the husband in a marriage who crafted the spinning wheel as a gift of love for his wife. These spinning wheels are often incredibly beautifully made with detailed carvings and sometimes decorated with intricate paintings, intended to show how much she was appreciated and loved. In some cases, her name is even elegantly engraved in the wood.

On SKYTTEN's website, we have compiled a list of skilled craftspeople in Denmark whom we can highly recommend - see here>>. These professionals can help produce the parts you need. Additionally, you have the opportunity to find great deals on, for example, original Lervad loom reeds and other quality equipment for weaving and spinning.

Briefly about the LERVAD loom
The story of the LERVAD loom begins with Anders Lervad (1863-1940) from Føvling, who was once associated with the newly established Askov Home Crafts and Sloyd School as a teacher. After the school's principal, Søren Meldgaard, passed away in 1894, Anders Lervad took over the operation of the Home Crafts School in 1895 and continued the work independently. Alongside the home craft courses, Anders Lervad began producing looms and sloyd tools.
